Coach Larro, Guard/PF
Chicago IL 6'4"
Coach Larry, affectionately known as "Larro," is a cherished figure in the local sports community, celebrated for his remarkable contributions both as a player and a coach. As a player, he was a 3-year varsity letterman in high school and earned national recognition as a JUCO All-American. His collegiate career saw him competing at the Division I level with the University of South Florida (USF), and he later took his talents to the professional stage, playing overseas and in semi-professional leagues. Transitioning into coaching, Coach Larry has spent 4 years as a head coach for high school sophomore teams and 2 years as an assistant head coach for the varsity team at Bloom High School. He also coached elite young athletes with the Mac Irvin Fire EYBL program for 2 years.
His exceptional leadership has led to an impressive five National Championship titles, solidifying his legacy as both a mentor and a champion. Through his unwavering dedication, Coach Larry continues to inspire and shape the future of basketball in his community.
Coach Wendi, Center
Glenwood, IL 6'2"
Coach Wendi’s journey with basketball is a testament to the power of passion and perseverance. Introduced to the sport in 6th grade, she proved that it’s never too late to start and pursue one’s dreams. Honing her skills on the court, she excelled as a 4 year varsity player at Homewood Flossmoor High School, earning a spot on the prestigious 2000-01 Coca Cola all area girls basketball team. Coach Wendi went on to D1 basketball at Chicago State University, where she had the privilege of being coached by esteemed WNBA players Dominique Canty and Pamela McGee.
Now as a coach herself, Wendi’s commitment to the game is undeniable. She thrives on building personal connections with every child, fostering an environment, where young athletes can flourish. Her multifaced role as the chaos coordinator, HR director, and director of operations showcase the breadth of her expertise and her invaluable contribution to the team. Her college nick name was The Landlord(our certified shot blocker)
Coach Vince, Point Guard
Chicago, IL 5’9”
Coach Vince, boasts an impressive basketball career marked by numerous accolades. A two-time All-State selection in high school, he averaged 18.9 points and 4.4 assists per game, becoming the most winningest point guard in Brother Rice history. He was a McDonald’s All-American nominee and a Wendy’s High School Heisman team selection.
Awarded a Division I scholarship to Illinois State University, Coach Vince was a three-year starter, team captain, and set the program’s record for the highest free throw percentage (88.9%). Scoring over 1,000 career points, he ranks among the top 20 scorers in Illinois State history. After his playing days, he transitioned to coaching at Brother Rice and Seton Academy, bringing his wealth of experience and leadership to the next generation of players.
Coach Lou, Power Forward
Chicago IL, 6’8”
Coach Lou's impressive basketball journey has been a true testament to his dedication and passion for the sport. After graduating high school, he spent two formative years honing his skills at Kankakee Community College, where he was recognized as a junior college All-American nominee. He then earned a scholarship to Western Illinois University, where he excelled as a three-year Division 1 collegiate athlete.
Following his collegiate success, Coach Lou took his talents to the professional level, playing basketball overseas for eight years in countries across Europe and South America. The lessons he learned through this global professional experience are now poised to benefit the young athletes he coaches as part of the esteemed 7/10 family.
As an assistant coach for the past six years, Coach Lou is eager to give back to the game he loves by helping prepare the next generation of players, not just for basketball success, but for life beyond the court. Coach Lou's enthusiasm and wealth of experience make him a truly invaluable asset to the 7/10 program, and the athletes are sure to benefit immensely from his leadership and mentorship.
Coach Rob, Small Forward
Belize 6'0"
Coach Rob's lifelong passion for basketball began at a young age, as he first picked up the sport at just 14 years old. From that point on, basketball has been deeply ingrained in his family's identity, with Coach Rob's children also finding their own love for the game and him proudly supporting them every step of the way. This connection to the sport eventually led Coach Rob to pursue coaching. Over the years, he has shared his basketball expertise with 4th through 8th grade girls at CPS Inter American Magnet School, 2nd through 4th grade boys and girls at the Blue Island Park District, and 4th and 5th grade girls teams at St. Damien.
For the past 2yrs, Coach Rob has served as an assistant coach for the Seven10 program, further honing his skills and dedication to player development. At the heart of Coach Rob's coaching philosophy is a genuine passion for helping young athletes of all abilities grow, both in their skills on the court and as individuals off of it. His keen eye for identifying and nurturing each player's unique strengths is a true asset, making him an invaluable addition to any basketball program.
Coach Byron, Point Guard
Chicago IL, 5'8"
Coach B's lifelong passion for the game began at a young age of 6 years old, sparking a deep love for the sport that has only grown stronger over time. From those early formative years, he dedicated himself to the game, playing organized basketball from age 10 all the way through 18.
As a point guard Byron understands the unique responsibilities and challenges of that critical position. He sees the point guard as an extension of the coach on the court, tasked with orchestrating the flow of the game. It’s clear that basketball is not just a hobby for him, but a true lifelong passion that brings him immense joy and fulfillment. Coach Franklin, Point Guard
Chicago, IL 5'10"
Coach Franklin’s journey in the world of basketball has been a remarkable one, filled with a passion for the game that guided his early days playing AAU for Illinois Wolverines to his current role as a highly successful coach at Brookwood Jr. High.
Franklin honed his skills on the court, showcasing his talent during his high school years at Bloom Township, after graduating Franklin continued his academic pursuits earning both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Law.
In a short span of just 3 yrs, Coach Franklin has already made a significant impact leading his teams to a state championship and runner up finish. As he continues to guide the next generation of young basketball players his legacy is sure to grow.
